A little contribution from the BIG sketchbook. From a wake and draw quick sketch at the Impulsive Sketching Journal - I described the part of the dream I remember.

Pentel Brush Pen
I few months ago I finally tried the Pentel Brush Pen. It has become my favorite tool for gesture drawings, quick storyboards, and loose lively sketching.

Mini Robots on a Mini Sketchbook
This has been one of the busiest work-at-home months I've had. Regardless, some doodling was done. Though only a few pencil scratches at a time, it added up to these two pages on my mini sketchbook. Fond of robots as I am, I thought I would fill some space with mini automata. Hope you like.

Thumbnail resistance
Today I thought I would share an example of a page of thumbnails from Two White Horses. Shows a lot of what goes on in the bean when inspiration is cookin up a stew.

Like Fine Wine... Yea right.
As we get older, we start to notice silly little things about ourselves like, well, hairs growing out of strange places. Along with all the other quirks like liver spots, skin tags and angina.
Also to, the tendency to share this TMI with others.
Resist growing old at any cost.

Coati
Hey everybody! I'm working on a kid's book with a writer from Costa Rica. It is about a young coati's journey through the Costa Rican rain forest. I'm planning on making the final pages super vibrant and colorful!
Memories
Here's a bonus sketch. I was off yesterday, but daily means daily, so I'll have another one to post on my lunch break. Meanwhile, enjoy a couple of memories from my childhood.

Loud Politician Campaigns
A silly doodle from the other day. Election primaries are this year, and lately, all these politicians are campaigning by walking alongside their entourages, in our neighborhoods. Sometimes they'll just send their trucks with squads of leaflet distributors. But the one thing that really bugs me, they do this after 6:00pm, sometimes even around 9:00pm. and they play their slogan filled songs, really really loud. So loud you can't even talk inside the house.
I've been to the park, around 6:00pm a few times, and they just drive around the park, and through the streets, at 5mph. You can barely talk or hear anything but their blasted music. So I had my sketchbook, and roughed out something really quick. I worked it up a bit, but the memory of that annoying scene threw me off. This is not an excuse, its the "taste in my ears" that really didn't want me drawing something nicely.
Oh well.. sometimes, you have to draw, even if its ugly. And that's part of the sketchbook's function... to show emotion. Arrrrghghghgh!!!! The resistance kicks butt no matter what.
By the way... these trucks and speakers are way bigger than I drew them.

Persiverance
The Day job can be as hard on the sketchbook as it is on our Dreams. Persevere in the practicing of patience!
Chiming in.
This is where I admit I'm typically abysmal at keeping a proper sketchbook. I either end up doing super rough scribbly things that are so far on the visual shorthand spectrum, I often can no longer decipher them after a project is done and I've moved on. OR I end up doing studies.
That said, this is a study for an element in a piece I'm working on currently. In my own backwards/bizarro thought process drawing out this spider at about 7 times the size it will be in the final made perfect sense. At least I like drawing spiders I guess.
Less words, more resistance.

Bee Fish Honey
A little something that popped into my pocket scketchbook. Sometimes they're quick lines, sometimes they're doodles that turn into something weird (ok, most of the time they're weird).
"Norm likes his bee fish honey fresh from the sea"
Norm is also a cyclops. I like this Sketchbook Resistance thing. Que viva SR!

And so it starts!
Thanks to my tweeple on Twitter, the bug of an idea hit me for setting up this blog. A place to share with anyone who wishes, my daily therapy sketches & such from my life line to sanity. My sketchbook. And I would LOVE for other creative individuals trapped in the soul sucking day job to join me in sharing their own works of weekly or daily flights of frustration avoidance. I started posting a few sketches straight to Twitter the other day under the hash tag #Sketchbookresistance and so will use this to announce new postings. If you are, or know of anyone who fits the description of a frustrated creative let them know about Sketchbook resistance. And if you would like to join me in posting here I'll send you an email invitation to join. Let's do this thang!
